Once a year, as the new hop harvest arrives at Tröegs, we blend super-fresh Nugget, Palisade and Simcoe hops into this Imperial Amber Ale. Excessively dry-hopped, Nugget Nectar is an explosion of pine, resin and mango. Visit our events page to find First Squeeze events in your area where you will have an opportunity to drink Nugget Nectar, hang out with some of the Tröegs team and score some free art prints from a few of our favorite artists. Most events will also have Nugget Nectar firkins and Nitro Nugget Nectar! We will also be featuring a very special event in each of our artists’ hometowns where they will be signing their artwork live so keep an eye on our social media for announcements of dates and locations of these events. If you miss out on the free art prints don’t worry, you can always order them from the Nugget Shop online along with other great Nugget merchandise.

through the eyes of the artists
We asked some of our favorite artists to put their spin on the iconic Nugget Nectar artwork. Their unique interpretations have been turned into frame-ready art prints that we will be giving away at our First Squeeze events.
Meet the artists:
- Angela Hsieh | Washington, DC “I read a lot of fantasy as a kid, and I love the idea of going off on adventures. My tastes have become a little less sword and sorcery and a little more discovering wonder in unexpected places. That’s where I was going. Discovering that bright spot in the dead of winter.” – Angela Hsieh, Washington, DC
- April Alayne | Baltimore, MD “I wanted to catch that warm feeling of opening up a beer and hanging out with each other. It’s like a flow state of happiness. You can’t look at this and not have some joy rub off on you.” – April Alayne, Baltimore, MD
- Ed Kuehn | Pittsburgh, PA “In this parallel universe, a brave soul chased by wolves steals a sip of Nugget Nectar from a Zeppelin making deliveries to bars and pubs across the world.” – Ed Kuehn, Pittsburgh, PA
- Elisa Sanchez | Charlotte, NC “I thought of those old juicers, with the hops as the fruit. My mom has used one of those forever. In my initial sketch, I hit upon the beer filling up the page from the bottom. I love using negative space and just letting it breathe.” – Elisa Sanchez, North Carolina
- Emily Rose | Milford, CT “I always think about the night sky being so vivid in winter. It’s crystal clear and you see all these bright stars. They kind of remind me of carbonation. I thought, ‘How can I bring that brightness closer to our perspective,’ and that’s where the birds-eye view came from.” – Emily Rose, Milford, CT
- Henry Hablak | Philadelphia, PA “My work is based off of hermeticism, which is an ancient philosophy heavily steeped in symbolism. I was thinking of a hermit in the woods, a lone brewer, getting inspiration from nature to make a special beer.” – Henry Hablak, Philadelphia, PA
- Joe Banda | Beverly, MA “I’m mostly influenced by folk art, outsider art, tattooing, skateboarding, comedy and anything weird. This started as a stream-of-conscious sketch, and I had a lot of fun taking it to a finished piece. It borders on the psychedelic side of my work.” – Joe Banda, Beverly, MA
- Jon Reinfurt | Audubon, NJ “I really wanted to get at the idea of this plentiful, rich experience that you’re having, so I based the colors off the green of the hops and the deep orange of Nugget Nectar. I also like the surreal look of chopping up everything. I thought dissecting the vines added a crispness that you associate with the first drink of a beer. It always goes down so good.” – Jon Reinfurt, New Jersey
- Katie McBride | Richmond, VA “I thought something about this poster should capture where I live, and I like that Nugget is a ‘bright spot in the dead of winter.’ So I did these anthropomorphized bears looking out over the Blue Ridge Mountains, and they’re giving each other a little squeeze.” – Katie McBride, Richmond, VA
- Kayla Bryer | Lancaster, PA “I like animal symbology. The snake in particular is a creative source and a symbol of life and rebirth, and they use squeezing as self-defense.” – Kayla Breyer, Lancaster, PA
- Matt Anderson & Alex Pasquarella | Rochester, NY “We were sitting on a couch, bouncing ideas back and forth with pencil and paper, and made the nectar connection. ‘What if we do a hummingbird feeding on a hop?’ Sometimes everything starts with just a simple idea. From there, we ran with it.” – Matt Anderson and Alex Pasquerella, Rochester, NY
- Paige Vickers | Brooklyn/Queens, NY “I was thinking about reprieve from that foggy winter zone, entering a warm bar, this dream space. Everyone is letting loose, jumping around, hair thrown about. It’s a frenzied escape. Finally feeling free.” – Paige Vickers, Brooklyn, NY
- Remo | Lancaster, OH “This is the ‘pre-squeeze,’ right before you crush it, and inside are all of the flavors: mango, grapefruit pith, pine and white peppercorn. You just want to crush it.” Remo, Columbus, OH
- Sean Flynn | Wilmington, DE “These dwarves are deep underground, and they’re forging this fiery mystical liquid for the gods. The giants can’t get to them, and they’re drinking on the job.” – Sean Flynn, Delaware
