For Scratch 485, we’re heading deep into the heart of Texas. Our South Texas Lager is built on a blend of Chocolate and Munich malts as well as flaked corn for a roasty backbone. We used decoction, a technique of boiling a portion of the mash, to impart a bright, dry maltiness. Hersbrucker and Tradition hops provide the classic floral and dried spice notes found in traditional lagers, while a Mexican-style lager yeast adds crispness and a hint of fruity esters. Deep amber in color and robust in flavor, this corn-fed lager is snappy and refreshing.
