The Art of Tröegs and the art of brewing are birds of a feather in this traditional German-style Schwarzbier. Scratch #517 starts with a nest of Munich and pilsner malts and a touch of de-husked roasted barley. Our house lager yeast lends a snappy character, giving the deceptively dark beer a crisp finish. The label was inspired by “Bird of Tröegs,” the majestic raptor created by Josh Stolberg, winner of this year’s contest. “It’s truly a phoenix-esque sculpture, giving new life to all Tröegs’ packaging,” says Josh. With notes of toasted bread, coffee and a hint of cocoa, this lager rules the roost.
