Scratch #526 Maibock is as seasonal as you can get. Translated from German, this Maibock, or ‘May Bock’, was dreamed up by brewer Justin Baum and guided by our portfolio of lagers. “I wanted to riff off of Cultivator,” says Justin. “We brought the ABV down a bit and fermented with a Pennsylvania heritage lager yeast.” He started with pilsner, pale and Munich malts, laying the malty body for Hersbrucker and Tradition hops. In the end, our first brewer’s choice Scratch release has light fruity esters with notes of sweet crackers and fresh bread.
