We’re taking another run at our Extra Special Bitter throwback. And truth be told, this traditional English-style ale isn’t bitter at all, but really about the interplay of hops and malt. Scratch #471 is a few steps removed from Chris’ homebrew recipes that morphed into our second released beer ever. This time around, we have the luxury of selecting our own hops, so we’re featuring Crystal hops for their bright and fruity notes. London 3 – the classic English ale yeast – does the work of fermenting this malty ale to bring out flavors of dark stone fruit, toffee and flaky biscuit.
