Scratch #459 continues down our path towards a modern take on the classic West Coast-style IPA. Chinook, Mosaic and Simcoe hops in the boil amp up the bright citrusy notes, while a blend of pale malt and unmalted wheat tempers the hop bitterness, providing a sturdy malt base. Dry-hopping with Simcoe and Strata – early on and again near the end of fermentation – yields aromas of sweet nectarine, grapefruit zest and apricot with traces of mixed berry jam around the edges.
