Not too long ago, we got a taste of some two-row barley grown about a half hour away in Mount Joy. It wasn’t just local, it was amazing, and we hatched a plan to brew a PA-centric take on our cult classic Troegenator. The combination of Double Eagle’s barley and caramel rye gives “PA Nator” a deep, port-like maltiness and a chewy body, and Cascade hops from Sunny Brae in Carlisle add subtle pine notes.
