Less than an hour’s drive southwest from the brewery is the Pennsylvania Fruit Belt. Among those 40,000 acres of some of the best growing in the country is Big Hill Ciderworks, run by two farmers who are longtime friends of Tröegs. For the third summer, they’ve pressed a blend of Winchester, Fuji, and Rome apples for us to use in a Belgian-style saison. For Scratch #337, the acidic and tannic Winchester is the star, while the combination of Fuji and Rome adds a hint of sweetness. LaChouffe yeast introduces distinctive fruity esters and spicy notes.

We taste: sweet-tart apples, spicy pear, fresh coriander
