Troegenator Doublebock won a gold medal and Sunshine Pils took a silver medal at the 2011 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) held in Denver, Colorado this past weekend. The GABF is the largest commercial beer competition in the world, with 3,930 beers vying for medals (compared to 3,523 entries in 2010). A total of 248 medals were awarded. Competition entries were received from 526 breweries from 48 states plus Puerto Rico. This year's GABF competition attracted 167 beer judges from nine countries. Award-winning brewers received prestigious gold, silver and bronze medals in 83 beer categories covering 134 beer styles (encompassing subcategories).

Denver, Co - We recently picked up some shiny hardware for Troegenator Doublebock at the 26th Annual Great American Beer Festival in Denver. Tröegs Brewery received a gold medal in the Bock category for Troegenator, a smooth, mahogany-colored lager that was first created with inspiration from German monastic brews. In 2003 this limited edition lager became a year-round product and since then has become the brewery’s second best-selling beer. An international panel of brewing experts selected the 2007 Great American Beer Festival winners from 2,832 entries received from 474 breweries in the United States. Troegenator won a silver medal at the 2006 GABF and a bronze medal at the 2006 World Beer Cup.

Troegenator Takes a Silver Medal at the Great American Beer Festival 10/3/06 Troegenator Double Bock won a silver medal at the 2006 Great American Beer Festival Competition (GABF), the largest national beer competition that recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the United States today. The top three winners in the competition’s 69 beer-style categories were announced September 30 at the 25th Annual Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado. Tröegs Brewery was recognized in the Bock category for Troegenator. “This is only the second year we have sent beer to the GABF because we’ve never brewed beer to specific style guidelines,” said Chris Trogner. “That being said, everyone at the brewery is quite proud of this accomplishment because winning at medal at the GABF places you in an elite group of breweries.” This is the second major honor for Troegenator this year; in April, the beer was awarded a bronze medal at the World Beer Cup. The 2006 Great American Beer Festival Competition winners were selected by an International panel of brewing experts from an impressive field of 2,443 entries received from 450 U.S. breweries. More than 1,200 breweries were invited to compete. “The Great American Beer Festival is the premier judging event for the American Craft Beer Industry,” said Nancy Johnson, festival director. “It’s exciting, being the 25th celebration, that this is our biggest show of entries. That’s proof positive that being chosen a winner, no matter is gold, silver or bronze is truly an accomplishment.”

Tröegs Brewery Wins Bronze Medal in World Beer Cup 4/18/06 HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA — Tröegs Brewing Company recently claimed a bronze medal in the Brewers Association (BA) World Beer Cup© 2006, a global beer competition that evaluates beers recognizes the most outstanding beers being produced in the world. Gold, silver and bronze medals in the competition’s 85 beer-style categories were awarded April 14, 2006, during the World Beer Cup Gala Awards Ceremony and Dinner in Seattle, Washington. Tröegs Brewery was awarded a bronze medal in the Traditional German-Style Bock category for Troegenator Doublebock, a smooth, mahogany-colored lager. Owners Chris and John Trogner first created Troegenator—inspired by German monastic brews—three years ago; it became a year-round beer in 2003, and is the brewery’s second best-selling beer. “It’s a privilege to win a medal, especially in a category that attracts so many European breweries with generations of brewing tradition,” said John Trogner. “Troegenator is becoming our signature beer.
